I am an economist, proudly graduated from Universidad Santa María in Caracas, Venezuela, with extensive experience in finance, logistics, and corporate operations. My professional journey has taken me from working in Venezuela petroleum sector to collaborating with renowned companies in the United States, including Kohl’s, Fujitsu, Berakah 72, and currently, Qmerit. These roles have strengthened my ability to lead, manage resources, and contribute strategically to organizations focused on impact and sustainability.
As Vice President of Musical Angels Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to providing therapeutic music education for children and older adults, I bring not only my professional expertise but also a deep personal commitment to community service. I firmly believe in the transformative power of music and its ability to promote emotional well-being, cognitive development, and social connection.
Outside of work, I am passionate about studying the stock market and investing—areas that continue to inspire me and fuel my interest in financial literacy. It is my hope to share both my professional knowledge and personal passions with others who are eager to grow, learn, and make a positive difference through education, music, and empowerment.
Alexis Martinez is a Dallas native and leukemia survivor, discovered the healing power of music at age 11 while undergoing treatment for AML. During his hospital stay, he began piano lessons through Musical Angels, the very nonprofit he now serves as Secretary. The piano became more than an instrument; it was a source of hope, strength, and emotional expression during his most difficult moments.
After recovering, Alexis went on to perform across Texas, sharing his story on Fox 4 News and The Dallas Morning News. He earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in piano pedagogy from Texas Woman’s University, where he won the 2024–2025 Concerto Competition and was awarded a grant to study at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest. There, he deepened his understanding of the works of Liszt and Bartók, which continue to influence his teaching and artistry.
Now serving as general manager and educator at Dallas Music Academy, Alexis brings the same compassion and purpose to his teaching that once inspired his own journey. His teaching philosophy centers on helping each student become the musician they want to be—not the one others thinks they should be. Whether students seek a structured foundation in note reading, technique, and theory, or are pursuing piano for relaxation and self-care, Alexis tailors lessons to individual goals. He integrates improvisation to foster creativity and joy, and teaches a wide range of students. From aspiring music majors to those learning to play contemporary Christian worship songs.
Through his work with Musical Angels, Alexis is honored to give back to the organization that changed his life, helping to bring the transformative power of music to children in hospitals and other vulnerable communities around the world.
